What to Know
This page is your quick guide to how we work, what to expect at each step, and how to get the most out of treatment at Gowda Orthodontics. Our goal is simple: make orthodontics clear, comfortable, and consistent, from your first scan to your final retainer check.

Getting Started: Your First Visit & Free Consultation
Your first visit is all about you. When you arrive, you’ll be greeted by our friendly team and meet Dr. Lakshmana, who will take the time to get to know you, understand your goals, and listen to any questions or concerns you may have.
We’ll then take a few diagnostic records — including photos, digital scans, and X-rays — so we can get a complete picture of your oral health and smile. Using this information, Dr. Lakshmana will review your results and walk you through personalized treatment options designed to fit your needs, lifestyle, and goals.
Our goal is for you to feel informed, confident, and excited about your smile transformation. We’ll explain every step of the process, answer all your questions, and make sure you leave your first visit knowing exactly what to expect from beginning to end.

Our Imaging Philosophy
We believe technology should enhance comfort and accuracy, not add hassle. Alongside digital scanning, we use Carestream 9600 panoramic/CBCT imaging when it meaningfully improves diagnosis or safety. This system includes airway analysis for cases where breathing or jaw relationships are part of the picture. 3D imaging isn’t taken routinely; it’s recommended thoughtfully, and only when it will influence your care.
Comfort by Design
Every detail is chosen for a smoother visit. You’ll notice A-dec ergonomic dental chairs for quiet, supportive seating, streamlined check-ins, and a calm, family-friendly space. Our wire sequences and aligner protocols are planned to be gentle but effective, so most visits are short and on time.

Treatment Options at a Glance
- Low-Profile Metal Braces: Small, smooth brackets for reliable, efficient movement.
- Clear (Ceramic) Braces: Tooth-colored brackets for a more discreet look.
- Clear Aligners: Nearly invisible trays (Invisalign®, Angel Aligners™, Spark™) worn 20–22 hours/day.
- Precision Aids (when needed): Mini implants/TADs to make challenging movements faster and more controlled.
- Retainers: Clear, fixed/bonded, or Hawley — your “insurance policy” for long-term stability.
Life During Treatment
For braces, plan on a short adjustment period with soft foods and orthodontic wax handy. Avoid very hard, sticky, or chewy foods, brush after meals, and use floss threaders or a water flosser daily. With aligners, remove trays to eat and drink (water is fine to sip with trays in), clean the trays daily, and wear them consistently to stay on schedule. Elastics (rubber bands) may be part of your plan, think of them as the “engine” that perfects the bite.

Appointments & Communication
Most braces visits are every 6–10 weeks; aligner cases can be spaced out and may include quick photo check-ins if appropriate. If something feels off between visits, contact us, small fixes are easy when caught early. Need to reschedule? No problem; keeping momentum matters, and we’ll find the next best slot.
Easy Financing
We keep costs clear and payment simple. You’ll receive a transparent estimate before you begin, and we’ll help you maximize any insurance benefits. We also offer flexible monthly payments (including third-party financing) to spread out the investment in a way that fits your budget. Prefer to plan ahead? Ask us to outline a few payment scenarios so you can choose what feels right.
